Electric Gypsy Disco Noise
Von Gucha nach Berlin und zurück: Mr Žarko stammt aus dem zentralserbischen Städtchen Čačak, unweit von Gucha (Guča), dem zwar kleinen aber weltbekannten Dorf, in dem das legendäre Guča-Trompetenfestival stattfindet. Auf dem Balkan eilt den Menschen aus Čačak und Umgebung ein sonderbarer Ruf voraus: Mr Žarko erklärt dies zum Teil mit den Worten "folcloristical madness", eine ganz spezielle Form des Wahnsinns, die er vor einigen Jahren auf seine Art mit nach Berlin brachte. Dort hat der Serbe seine Clubtauglichkeit und Unverwechselbarkeit längst bewiesen und zudem eine Menge Balkankolorit im Gepäck. Zusammen mit fünf und gerne auch mal mehr Bandkollegen aus Bulgarien, Rumänien und Deutschland bringt er seine selbstgeschriebenen „songs of laughter, pain, dances and tears“ auf die Bühne und kleidet sie in ein ganz eigenes Kostüm psychedelischer Note. Authentische Balkanbläsersätze und -melodien treffen auf 100 Prozent live gespielte Grooves aus der globalen Athmosphäre. Seine Kombination aus alledem nennt er "Electric Gypsy Disco Noise".
Die Musiker der Band - kennengelernt haben sie sich bei einer Theaterproduktion - lassen sich dabei gerne zu Soli hinreissen. Aber keine Angst, es darf und muss getanzt werden. Einige haben mit bekannten Balkanacts wie Shantel, Miss Platnum, Rotftont oder Fanfara Kalashnikof gearbeitet. Wladimir Kaminer (Russendisko) hat die Band zur Eröffnung seines Berliner Clubs "Rodina" (russ.: Heimat) eingeladen. 2011 war Mr Žarko mit seiner Band auf dem Fusionfestival zu sehen und 2013 wird der 2-Metermann sein erstes Studioalbum veröffentlichen. Man darf gespannt sein.
From Gucha to Berlin and back: Mr Žarko was born in the city of Čačak in the heartland of Serbia, just a stone's throw away from the small village which is famous for hosting the legendary "Guca Trumpet
Festival". In the Balkans, people from the Čačak area enjoy a peculiar reputation, partly explained by Mr Žarko as "folkloristical madness": a very special form of insanity which he imported to Berlin
several years ago. There the Serbs unique musical blend proved a hit with the club crowds and festivalgoers. Together with his five (or more) bandmembers from Bulgaria, Romania and Germany he performs his own compositions- "songs of laughter, pain, dances and tears" - often adding a psychedelic twist. Authentic balkan brass-riffs and melodies are built on grooves drawing from all corners of the globe- and all 100% live. This eclectic combination has been dubbed "Electric Gipsy Disco Noise".
The musicians occasionally grab the opportunity to take a solo- but don't worry! this stuff is made for the dancefloor. Several have played in well-known Balkanacts (Shantel, Miss Platnum, Rotftont, Fanfara Kalashnikov), and Wladimir Kaminer (Russendisko) invited the band to play at the opening of his "Rodina" club in Berlin. In the summer of 2011 Mr Žarko appeared in the Fusion-Festival and in 2013 the 6 foot fiver will release his first studio album. Stay tuned for more.
